These classes are offered as a way to have fun and adventure into art after school has let out for the day! At each session there will be multiple examples avalible for the students to choose from, though there will be some kind of theme each week that the examples will relate to.  This can be as simple as "pinch pots" where the items shown are all pinch pots, or it could be like a "dish" which could be from a slab, made using pinch pot methods or other methods! 

The goal of these classes is to introduce different techniques for Hand-building in ceramics or to better skills a student may already have. In addition to this to have fun with the medium of clay, using new and different tools to explore all it has to offer.

Date: December 5th and 6th

Time:1 pm to 7pm

Ages: 10+ (under 16 with parental approval and supervision)

Book your session for weekend glass blowing experiences at The MAC! Work with glass artist Neal Richmond to create a glass Christmas ornament for your tree at home.

In this session

Blow your own ornament with your choice of colors (limit two per piece)

Use traditional tools and techniques to manipulate and inflate glass 

Receive private instruction from a professional glassworker

Retrieve your ornament after 24 hours to allow for annealing

Classes run Friday and Saturday from 1 pm to 7pm. Each ornament experience takes approximately 15 minutes. Please wear appropriate clothing (closed toed shoes, natural fibers if possible, and no excessively loose clothing) 

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Watercolor

Open to all ages

Beginner friendly!

The holidays are coming up so share the cheer with your friends or family with handmade season's greeting cards!

In this class we will paint a variety of simple designs meant to encapsulate all the elements we love about the holidays.

Your instructor will guide you through the designs but feel free to add any personal touches to your cards! We will add a little extra flair with watercolors that sparkle!

When you're done send these to your friends or loved ones to give them a heartfelt start to their season!

Family Heirloom Ceramic Christmas Tree Decorating

The ceramic Christmas tree is back!

There's something about and decorating for the holidays that always brings out major feelings of nostalgia and sometimes the decorations from the past simply can't be matched. 

If you have parents or grandparents of a certain age, chances are you’ve seen one of these iconic trees in their home. People are enchanted by the ceramic Christmas tree and the delicateness of the lights. There is purely something magical about them.

Light up your tabletop this season with a Ceramic Christmas Tree!

This year the Mansfield Art Center is proud to offer 3 different Christmas trees to match your needs. 

Just make your choice at check out, the price of your tree will be added, and come and glaze your tree, Make it your own for generation to come.

Lighted Christmas Tree

Instructor: Megan Steinman

Date: December Friday the 12th & Saturday the 27th*

Time: 5:30pm-7:30pm

Age: Teen and Adult (16+)

In this class students will be using cookie cutters, and cookie texture plates to create permant sweet treats! These make wonderful decorations without ever losing their freshness.  By adding a simple hole they can become ornaments or even garland when strung together. You will be abe to create multiple cookies during the class (a maximum of 2 pounds can be used per person), and you can even create cookies using simple shapes and play with the texture plates.  The descision is yours!

These "cookies" are decorated using underglazes, or washes of underglaze to expose even more of the dough colored claybody.  These pieces can be left without a clear glaze to create a more realistic cookie-like apperance, or made shiny with said glaze.

The glaze date for this class is December 27th, if this causes conflict please reach out to set up another date to glazing time.

Class: Clay Gnome

Date: December, Saturday 13th and Saturday 27th*

Time: 12pm - 2pm

Instructor: Megan Steinman

Ages: Family* (6 and up, including those over 18 years of age!) 

Each person who wishes to do the project must be signed up individually, as each person needs their own "seat" in the class to do the project!

During this class, students will use hand building techniques to craft their own unique Gnome! Your gnome can have anything theme, Christmas or otherwise. Be sure to think about not only a design for the gnome's face, but also for their hat. They are sure to be the most stylish gnome around!

The glaze date for this class is December the 27th, if this date creates a conflict for you, another date can be worked out individually.
