Silk painting refers to the practice of applying paints or dyes to silk textiles.
Silk is a fine fiber made from the filaments of silkworm cocoons. When boiled and gently unwound, these pupal casings produce silk strands that can be combined into threads, which, in turn, can be used to make textiles.
Painting on silk is soothing and extraordinarily pleasing to watch. It is simply exquisite!
An incredible choice of patterns await for you to choose, whether you prefer the bright colors of the jungle life or the beautiful outfits of the flowers in the heat of summer, certainly there is a choice you will love. You are also ecouraged to make your own original design.
With a classic “Serti” method which encapsulates the dye within a certain area of the design, so the color stays in place, participant will utilize all technique of painting with salt, watercolor and a dash of vodka!
You will have the opportunity to either wear your art as a scarf or mount it on a 21 by 21 canvas. This will be shown and discussed at the beginning of the class so that you can make the best choice for yourself.
