These pieces will be glazed AFTER a firing, in this case they go from being "greenware" before firing to "bisqueware" firing. October 31st is the Glaze date for this class! If this second date does not work for the student please email me at megan@mansfieldartcenter.org and another date can be worked out.

EW-10-18 &10-25- 2025 Kids Clay Mushroom Grove
with Megan Steinman

Ages: 6 - 18
Instructor: Megan Steinman
Date: October 18th & October 25th, 2025
Time: 12pm - 2pm
Ages: Intended for Kids and Family Groups!
In this class students will be able to make a base for their mushrooms to build on. For the mushrooms themselves students will take portions of clay to create two pinch pots for every mushroom. Though the shape can vary widely as every mushroom can be different from tall with a wide rounded cap to small with a thin pointed cap. The stems can be smooth or textured, same with the caps!
The only restrictions on the number of mushrooms a student can create is time, and the starting Clay amount of 1.5lbs. This amount of clay can make multiple larger mushrooms, and students are likely to run out of time before they run out of clay.

After many questions during the crafting of these chickens... We feel it is important to say this class is beginner friendly!! It looks very complex, however it only takes two modified pinch pots to make. After that the details such as the eyes, the comble, and waddle are added afterwards as big simple shape from a slab or rolled on the table.
These pieces will be glazed AFTER a firing, in this case they go from being "greenware" before firing to "bisqueware" firing. November 7th is the Glaze date for this class! If this second date does not work for the student please email me at megan@mansfieldartcenter.org and another date can be worked out.
