Arduino " Gateway to Maker"

6 Weeks Class

Saturday October 9/16/23/30/ November 6/13

10.30 am- 12.00pm

Instructor: Jerry Francl Sr.

Age: All

This is a workshop where you create interactive projects using your very own Arduino Uno. The featured Arduino experimenters kit, contains parts for building a nifty prototyping station and enough modules and components for 50 projects.

In each project you learn a little about electronics and the programming language that YOU put into the Arduino. The programming language is a form of C++ and it allows you to make the Arduino do YOUR thing .  These projects show the basics but can be the expanded to become awesome, interactive projects by the creative mind.

So what kinds of things can you do with an Atduino ? You can control an array of colored LED's, LED Matrices, LCD displays, air pumps and water pumps, solenoid valves,  DC gear motors, angle servo motors, stepper motors, heaters and fans.

Your Arduino can interact with the physical world through a large selection of sensors.  Basic sensors in the kit consist of  temperature sensors, humidity sensors, ultrasonic distance sensors, light sensors, push-buttons, 4x4 keypads, X-Y joysticks,  and IR remotes . There are literally hundreds of additional modules available from the many Maker suppliers online that can supplement the basic Arduino Kit.

So who should take this course ? Anyone who wants to be a maker .  I've had makers as young as fourth grade and makers of retirement age.  (The instructor got his first Arduino at age 69.)

You should know how to copy and paste text, pay attention to details and persist towards completion.

The workshops will be 1 ½ hours long and limited to 4-6 makers.  After the initial workshops makers can work on their projects at home.  Follow-up workshops on specific topics such as “Stepper Motors”,  “LED Matrix Displays”, etc. will be offered based upon interests of the class.
