A rare opportunity to expose your child(ren) to participate in one of the oldest forms of art: Stained Glass.
It is extraordiary to think that Stained Glass windows were first used by affluent Romans in their homes in the First Century AD. Early examples of stained glass windows can also be found in some of the palaces and mosques in the Middle East and in Jarrow, England.
Participants will make a 3-D butterfly in stained glass in order to learn the process of cutting, grinding, copper foiling and soldering the glass. The butterfly can be either soldered on a rod as a planter, shown in a window as a suncatcher or simply hung on the wall. You will have an opportunity to decide and solder the appropriate attatchment at the end of your class so it will be readily available to decorate your home.
For the first time this class is open to children of 11 years of age and up. Please make sure that your participant fits this age range.
Due to the nature of glass we ask parents to allow only their children that are intentful listeners and enjoy participating in art. Also, cotton clothing, closed toe shoes and securely attached hair are a must to attend this class.
Participants will choose their own colored glass and build their butterfly. It is a long class, but fun and technical; and the end product is worth all of the effort.
Remember, we are playing it safe for everyone so we wear our masks and keep our social distances at all times.
Maximum 8 participant per class.
