How do you draw? Drawing is something that can seem very intimidating, it can be hard to know where to start.
In this class your instructor, Emalie, is going to walk you through the basics of drawing, the materials you’ll need, how to sketch, how to draw from observation as well as teaching you different drawing techniques.
Each class will be broken into a different aspect of drawing with the final class being dedicated to applying what you've learned as well as a chance to ask any questions and get feedback.
Class 1: We will focus on materials used for drawing and how to use them. We will also go over basic drawing techniques and the different effects you can achieve with just a pencil.
Class 2: I will show you how to draw forms and shapes. Everything you draw is composed of shapes, so it is important to know how to use these shapes to build the form of our subject.
Class 3: We will take a closer look at value and shading. Since we will be working in greyscale, value is extremely important to adding depth to our subject. It is a key part of drawing.
Class 4: How to draw from life. We will be doing a still life drawing. Drawing from life is one of the best ways you can practice drawing. In this last class you can apply the techniques you have learned in previous classes to create your still life drawing.
