Linoleum Carving and Christmas Card Printing Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, adults will learn the art of linoleum carving to create their own unique Christmas cards. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the process of transferring a design onto linoleum, carving the negative space, and printing their design onto cards. By the end of the class, each participant will have a set of personalized Christmas cards ready to share with friends and family.

Class Objectives:

- Understand the basics of linoleum carving and printmaking.

- Learn how to transfer a design onto linoleum.

- Master the techniques of carving to create a negative space image.

- Explore different printing techniques to create unique Christmas cards.

- Gain confidence in creating personalized art pieces.

- Choosing or creating a simple design for the card.

- Techniques for transferring the design onto the linoleum block.

- Tips for effective design composition.

- Demonstration of carving techniques.

- Hands-on carving practice with individual guidance.

- Focus on carving out the negative space to highlight the design.

 Printing Techniques 

- Introduction to different printing methods (e.g., hand printing, using a press).

- Practice printing on test paper to perfect the design.

- Printing on final card stock.

- Drying and setting the prints.

- Adding personalized touches (e.g., coloring, embellishments).
