What is leaded stained glass panel?
So far the Mansfield art center used the copper foil method in the stained glass program. This class introduces the complement method to copper foil which is lead came.
Stained glass windows should be made of lead came. But sometimes, novice stained glass practitioners make windows using copper foil and solder. Though the copper foil may make the leadline smaller, the window will not properly stand up to the weather over time and will also suffer from outside temperature change. Copper foil was originally intended to be used to make lamp shades and small crafts, or inside panels .
Transparent colored glass will be used for this project in order to have a good understanding on how leading window can be made.
Using lead came on a panel requires a different set of tools and methodology than copper foil. In this class participant will learn how to utilize the lead method the same way it was used in the begining of stained glass with a panel measuring 12 inches by 18 inches
2 kind of designs will be offered. Abstract and a representation of an iris.
A payment plan will be offered at check out.
