EW - 05/30 & 06/06 - Clay Taco Time

Ages: Teen and Adult

 

In this class students will use a round of cutout for a shell, and their creativity along with tricks to make semi-realistic toppings to place in their tacos.  It is up to the students how many and what toppings their tacos have, all of the tacos pictured contain lettuce and tomato!

How many can you make? About 3-5 tacos depending on size and the complexity of the toppings in them.

The glaze date for this class is June 6th.

In this session: 

  • Create your own glass bird using your choice of two colors
  • Experience working with a unique material
  • Receive direction from glass maker Neal Richmond
  • Retrieve your bird after 48 hours to allow for annealing

 

Classes run from 1pm to 7pm. Each piece takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Please wear appropriate clothing (closed toed shoes, natural fibers if possible, and no excessively loose clothing) 

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

2025 Art Exploration Summer Camps

Unlock Your Child's Creativity This Summer! Join our Art Summer Camps for children aged 6 to 12. Immerse your little artists in a world of colors, imagination, and fun. Creative workshops, hands-on activities, and skilled instructors await! Enroll now to ignite a summer of artistic exploration.  Limited spots available – 

9am to 3pm, Monday-Friday

Camp 1  June 09 - June 13 

Camp 2  June 16 - June 20

Camp 3   June 23 - June 27

Camp 4   July 07- July 11

Camp 5   July 14- July 18

Camp 6   August 4 - August 8

 

Age: 6 to 12 years old

Each child will need to bring their own packed lunch everyday of camp

 

Price: $423  per child per camp.

The 2025 Art Exploration Summer Camps at the Mansfield Art Center offers a unique and innovative approach to creative learning through STEAM learning methods. This camp is designed for children who love art and want to explore a variety of creative techniques, materials, and mediums in a fun and educational environment and state of the art college level facilities.

Throughout the camp, children will create art in a variety of mediums, including Acrylic painting, Watercolor, Drawing with Alcohol Ink, Anime, Glassblowing, Pottery wheel & Hand-building, Glazing techniques, Wood Marquetry, Paper Making, Hydro Dipping, Machine Knitting, Silk painting, Jewelry, and Theatrics Exercise & Movement.

The camp will be led by an experienced and dedicated team of teachers who specialize in each medium being taught!

Each day, children will create new projects that combine artistic expression with scientific inquiry and technological innovation. Throughout each project, they will explore the creative process and gain valuable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Children will also experience the art of Theatrics Exercise & Movement to compliment their atistic experience.

The camps will be divided into age groups, with activities and instruction tailored to each group's level and interests. The camp will also include a walkthrough of the Mansfield Art Center galleries (if a show is currently being exhibited). All materials and supplies will be provided.

Please arrive earlier at the beginning of each camp to fill up the paper work, (approximately 5 to 10 mn).

The children will perform during the end of camp ceremony to celebrate the complition of their artistic work. The Ceremony will commence at 2:30 in the MAC pavillion on Fridays.

EW - 07/05 & 07/26 - Clay Pocket Trinkets

Ages: Teens and Adults alike!

 

In this class you will small bits of clay to make tiny creatures! Tiny frogs can be difficult while tiny birds can be easy... the entire form comes from a small round of clay and a second small piece for the head. No need to think of how to add limbs ears and such, all features are made by creating lines on the form of clay! Students are welcome to make any kind of creature they wish

Limited by only by time, students are sure to create many of these small trinkets. July 26th is the Glaze date for this class!

EW - 07/26 & 08/16 - Clay Coasters

Date: July 26th & August 16th, 2025

Time: 12pm - 2pm

Ages: Teens and Adults alike!

 

In this class starting with a simple slab students can cut coasters of any shape, though even a simple circle as a start can lead to a complex coaster based on impressions or other added pieces of clay. A full set is considered four coasters though students are welcome to do up to six if they so choose!  In addition to the coasters themselves it is encouraged to also make a holder for them!

Remember to return on August 16th as it is the Glaze date for this class!this is when colors are added to your piece, along with a few tricks to create stunning visuals. Each students coasters are sure to be unique and functional!
