Intro to Metalsmithing "Formed Metal Pendants"

This is a 2 day class

Ages: 14 to Adult

$50.40 Members | $56 Non-Members

 This is an introductory metalsmithing and jewelry making class.

Using copper, you will design and make a pendant. Metal will be cut, edges smoothed with files and then shaped. Fold forming and metal shaping techniques, including dapping blocks will be used to form the basis of your piece. When completed, liver of sulfur, borax wash or a torch can be used to add color to your finished piece. 

Beads or adornments to coordinate with your piece can be brought into the second class. Demonstrations with be given all along the class to help each and everyone's project.

Enameling is the use of colored glass on metal by using high heat to form a durable coating. Create your very own Christmas Tree ornaments using a precut copper plate. In this class your instructor, Teri Lovett, will teach you the traditional technique of enameling with a high heat flame that dates back to 6th Centruy B.C! Students will have enough time to create at least one ornament and all materials including enamels will be provided by the Mansfield Art Center.
